The academy is a professional context where there are few limits on the ways that scholars may choose to contribute to research, education, practice, and society at large. There are equally many ways that we as scholars define success for ourselves and forge our career paths and measure our accomplishments accordingly. It can be all too easy to single out the scholars we know as “stars” and to use their achievements as measuring sticks for our own career decisions, successes, and shortcomings. Our goal for this webinar is to cultivate a healthy and balanced approach to what success means and how its definition might also change over time.

We have invited four women scholars who have made outstanding accomplishments in their careers while embracing their own definitions of success. We hope to facilitate a discussion where other scholars feel encouraged to identify and be inspired by the successful role models around them while remaining true to their own values and priorities as they define and strive for their own versions of success.
